Why look abroad? Taxes, Insurance and Homeowners Fees

Many people can't imagine retiring just because of these fixed costs. If you buy real estate in the U.S. you never really own the property. In Florida property taxes on an average $300,000 home can run about $6,000 per year. The required insurance can run over $5,000. Double those numbers if the house or property is beachfront or waterfront.  For anyone retired and on a fixed income, that's a big burden and it gets bigger each year. Did you know that property tax in most retirement havens is less than $100 per year? In some, there is no real estate tax. Homeowners association fees are often a fraction of what you might be paying now. By selling your home in the U.S. or Europe you may be able to buy a home, condo, or villa in latinamerica Eastern Europe, Africa or Asia and have money left to live on for some time to come.
